Rhinophyma is a red, swollen nose that represents the most severe stage of a condition known as rosacea. This condition affects up to 10% of the population. The initial symptoms of the disease manifest as redness of the skin on the nose and cheeks, followed by the chin and forehead. The skin undergoes repeated inflammation, which later leads to changes in skin texture.
