We are pleased to introduce a new addition to our Dermaestet clinic: the state-of-the-art French Ariane IPL device, which combines permanent hair removal with skin rejuvenation in a single treatment.

One advantage is the ability to combine several different treatments using the same device that utilizes the effects of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). Photoepilation permanently removes unwanted hair anywhere on the body, and photorejuvenation restores a youthful appearance to the skin and smooths out fine lines, effectively helps treat acne, and removes age spots and red veins on the face.

Permanent hair removal for all hair types

IPL is a highly effective method for removing unwanted hair from all parts of the body. The Ariane photoepilation device emits a safe beam of light onto the treatment area, which is converted into heat upon contact with the hair’s pigment. The beam travels along the hair shaft, cutting off its nutrient supply, and the hair falls out within 14 days.

Before the treatment, we will cleanse the area to ensure no makeup, lotion, or deodorant remains on the skin’s surface, and then apply a clear gel. During the treatment, the technician can adjust the device settings precisely to suit the needs of the specific area. With the Ariane IPL treatment, we are able to effectively remove even blonde and white hair (i.e., hair without pigmentation), which, for example, a laser cannot remove 100% completely.

When it comes to removing unwanted hair, nothing is more important than consistency. The frequency of treatments varies from person to person; we typically schedule them every 1 month to 5 weeks, for a total of about 6 to 8 sessions in a row. After completing the series, you can look forward to smooth, completely hair-free skin. Over time, hair may reappear, but it will be new hair growing in different places; however, thanks to our treatment, it will still be finer and grow more slowly.

Crystal skin rejuvenation and treatment of cold sores and abrasions

The Ariane IPL device features two attachments with a crystal plate that precisely directs the pulsed light to the treatment areas. The light has a beneficial effect on skin structure and stimulates the regeneration of connective tissue cells (known as fibroblasts).

If you swap your regular monthly skincare routine for this treatment, the result will be smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.

A trained nurse will assess the condition of your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment. First, she will thoroughly cleanse your skin of makeup and cosmetic products, then apply a clear sonogel (for more comfortable handling and precise beam targeting) and set up the device. During the procedure, we will treat the surface of your skin and remove pigment spots and red veins; if you’re interested, we can also combine the treatment with hair removal. If you suffer from long-term cold sores or cracked corners of the mouth, IPL treatment can effectively help you. It can also support acne treatment or accelerate the healing of post-surgical scars.

Preparing for hair removal based on hair color

The success of hair removal depends largely on proper preparation, which varies depending on the color and type of your hair. If you have mixed hair that combines both dark and light strands, it is not possible to perform hair removal all at once; instead, you must treat each type separately.

Dark and black hairs

Preparation is simple for dark hair. Shave the area with a regular razor the day before your treatment. Dark hair contains a high concentration of pigment, which absorbs the laser light well, making the treatment effective. Six to eight sessions are usually sufficient to achieve lasting results.

Light, gray, and white hairs

Light-colored hair requires a different approach. This hair is never shaved, but rather plucked with tweezers right at the clinic just before the treatment. Light-colored hair contains little pigment, making it more challenging to treat. Plucking with tweezers helps the device target the roots more effectively. Light-colored hair typically requires more than 10 sessions.

Important Guidelines for Hair Removal

Always distinguish between hair types—dark hair should be shaved, while light hair should be plucked. Never try to pluck light hair at home, as this can reduce the effectiveness of hair removal. Always follow our doctors’ instructions based on your hair type; this is the only way to achieve the best results.

Recovery and Combination with Other Procedures

Immediately after the procedure, you may experience a slight burning sensation (similar to a sunburn). We’ll address this by applying a cream containing panthenol, which will soothe your skin very quickly. You can apply makeup right after the treatment and resume your normal daily activities or return to work.

There is virtually no recovery time after treatment with the Ariane IPL device. Only in the case of pigmented spot treatment is it necessary to protect the area from direct sunlight until the treated area has completely peeled off (within a few days); otherwise, the pigmentation may return, albeit to a lesser extent. Whether for hair removal or skin rejuvenation, regular application of a protective cream with SPF 50 is a must.

This treatment can be easily combined with other procedures we offer at our clinic—whether they involve botulinum toxin injections, thread lifts, hyaluronic acid fillers, or mesotherapy. However, it is always necessary to consult with a doctor in advance so that the most appropriate combination can be scheduled at the best possible time.
